In 1982, the CHS was founded by a group of moms looking for support to deal with their children's heart conditions.
The CHS has raised thousands of dollars towards research into pediatric heart disease & CHS volunteers have donated hundreds of thousands of hours to supporting heart kids & families in the Edmonton area.
The CHS has directly touched the lives of hundreds of heart kids (many of whom are now adults) in the Edmonton area.
1 in 100 babies are born with a congenital heart defect.
Pediatric heart disease is the leading cause of infant death in Canada.
The funding and support received for pediatric heart disease is grossly disproportionate compared to the prevalence of these conditions.
However, with increased awareness and funding for support and research, a future in which no child dies from pediatric heart disease is possible.
